Know where to turn for what your province doesn’t cover

All Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada are eligible for provincial health care. The health care system covers basic services, such as doctor’s visits and hospitals.

But there are limitations to your provincial coverage. Many medical expenses are not covered by provincial plans – such as prescription drugs, dental services, physiotherapy – and that list isn’t getting any smaller…

That’s where supplemental health insurance becomes important. With an extended health and dental plan, you can get coverage for services beyond your provincial coverage, such as dental visits, ambulance services or home nursing care.

Moreover, provincial plans provide minimal coverage while you are travelling, and no coverage if you’ve been away for more than a certain period of time. They also do not cover visitors or international students, and new immigrants must wait 90 days to be covered.

Choose the button above that best describes your situation to find the health insurance option to suit your needs. If you’re not sure, contact us for more help.
